I believe fobs were a little easier in the RS days. If I remember all of us from 10-15/20 years ago, put a dime/quarter in the slot and divide by 1/4.

It happened to us yesterday. The entire front of the key fell to the ground. We returned it again with a new battery but now the fob is not recognized by the car. It is one of three reasons:

I’m glad I’m in year 4 and I don’t need to change the battery. The last FOB battery I replaced was in a 6 year old VW last year before I replaced it.

I think it’s a bit sketchy – I’m happy to draw it. And it’s easy to give everything a good cleaning once in a while. It seems like it’s set up to go back in only one direction (early episodes only provide a bit of a puzzle). I think another option would be some kind of plastic insert that you insert into the coin, although that would probably increase the size of the pendant a bit. One caveat though – if my supply has a tendency to go out (as some seem to), I can be very happy. I never thought about that.

For 2020 2021 2022 Replacement Subaru Outback Remote Smart Keyless Entry Fob

The smart key fob on our 2015 Toyota Sienna has been unlocked to replace the battery. Two of the larger ones broke, meaning I had a choice of glue or tape for a temporary fix. Fortunately, this is a known problem and good replacement outer casings can be found cheaply on the web. $10 and a few days later it’s back together and looks/works like new.

The next morning when I started the car I got a warning that the batteries in the key fob were dead. This warning remained for the next 2 weeks until the battery in the key fob died.

Don’t be angry! There is a small cylindrical square behind the keyboard. Press the physical key that can be used to open the door! To start the vehicle, press the dead key with the “ENGINE START” button and the vehicle’s system will activate. You can now start the car as usual. This process can be repeated until you replace the battery in the fob.

First, remove the physical key from the fob. Next, insert the flat cable into the hole where the body key is stored. Carefully pull the back of the key to expose the battery. Replace the battery with a new CR 2032 battery available at Walmart for less than $5. Reassemble the pendant and you’re good to go!
