The updated CX-5 range starts at $32,490 plus on-road costs for the more affordable CX-5 Maxx with a smaller 2.0-litre petrol engine, front-wheel drive and manual gearbox. All other variables are solely automatic.

We had the second most expensive GT SP on test with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine priced at $51,490 on-roads. According to Mazda Configurator, this model is worth $56,511 in a Melbourne postcode.

The passenger cabin of the updated CX-5 differs little from its predecessors; the only exception would be the standard wireless charging pad for smartphones on the higher-end variants.

The only notable changes to the GT SP are the perforated leather seat inserts compared to the MY21 model’s suede interior seat upholstery and the standard inclusion of a 7.0-inch driver’s instrument display previously exclusive to the Akera.
