An AED pad can be placed over the chest scar. However, if the scar indicates an implanted pacemaker or cardiac defibrillator (ICD), place AED pads on all four fingers of the pacemaker.

Cardiac arrest is rare. When such an event occurs, the procedures for CPR and AED in pregnant women are the same as for women.

Placement of AED pads for children and infants is different than for adults. The defibrillation pad should be placed in an anterior lateral position, ie, on the upper right side of the chest and on the left nipple. Make sure the defibrillation pad is not touching and is at least 1-2 cm away.
