However, the electric speed is limited to 87 miles per hour (140 km/h), and if you exceed this point, the gasoline engine is automatically changed.

This PHEV has the potential to be an incredibly fun vehicle to drive. In addition to a low center of gravity and rigid body with double wishbone front and a multi-link rear suspension, the CX-60 features the MX-5’s Kinematic Posture Control driving stabilization program to reduce body roll. Looking at everything on paper, we think it could be a very fun SUV for daily tasks.

But what you see on paper doesn’t always translate into real life. Slipping behind the wheel, we hit the start button for a 62-mile (100-kilometer) drive around the Portuguese coast, where the CX-60 is impressed by its interior curves. It should be noted that this particular car is still a pre-production model that has not yet been completely finished.

In this way, we are sure that the small grinding sound when you shift from first to second gear, as well as the whistling sound of the electric motor, will disappear in production. It must be better, as neither sound matches the high-end expectations of the CX-60.

The steering is nice and direct, the chassis manages the balance between comfort and sport well, the brakes respond with surprising passion, and the hybrid system doesn’t let itself go out of whack, out of control when the individual parts are engaged.
