New Mazda Hybrid Cars

New Mazda Hybrid Cars – Power: 340-hp, 3.3-liter six-cylinder turbo engine (mild hybrid) or 323-hp, 2.5-liter turbo engine, electric motor, 17.8 kWh battery (plug-in hybrid); eight-speed automatic transmission; all wheel drive

In 2021, Mazda has promised to launch three new SUVs in the US in 2023: the CX-50, CX-70 and CX-90. On the heels of the smaller 2023 CX-50, Mazda has now introduced the largest of the three lineup, the 2024 CX-90. Although the CX-90 is similar in appearance and name to the current CX-9, it is based on a new platform that Mazda claims is the most powerful production car in its history. The SUV expands Mazda’s electric lineup with two new engine options, including the brand’s first plug-in hybrid model.

It remains to be seen whether the CX-90 will replace the CX-9 when it goes on sale, but the newly launched SUV aims to beat the competition in terms of power, performance and technology.

Changes To The 2023 Mazda Models

Unlike the smaller CX-50, which shares engine options with the same-size CX-5, the CX-90 comes with two new powertrains that promise a significant increase in power. The standard engine is a mildly turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six that produces 340 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque on the offered premium gasoline. Mazda says the mild-hybrid setup improves efficiency with smooth acceleration from a standstill.

Outside of California (where the company’s only electric vehicle, the MX-30, is sold only in the state), buyers looking for a Mazda EV can choose from the new PHEV CX-90 engine. It’s a modified version of Mazda’s current 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, paired with an electric motor capable of 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque and a 17.8-kilowatt-hour battery.

Mazda estimates that both engines will be more powerful than the CX-9’s gasoline-only 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Towing specifications for the CX-90 have yet to be released, but the new powertrain will likely boost the 2023 CX-9’s maximum towing capacity by 3,500 pounds with increased power and torque.

Each engine in the CX-90 is mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, unlike the CX-9 which uses a six-speed automatic transmission. Mazda says the eight-speed boosts the midsize SUV’s efficiency and helps with smooth acceleration. Fuel economy for the CX-90 is unknown, but for reference, the 2023 CX-9 is EPA-rated at 20/26/23 mpg city/highway/combined. Like all Mazda SUVs, every CX-90 model comes with standard AWD.

Mazda Cx 80: What To Expect From New Mazda Cx80

Mazda says the CX-90 will offer more power, as well as a new rear-wheel platform, body stiffness and suspension tuning to bring greater performance. The CX-90 is also the automaker’s first SUV to offer Sport Stance Control technology, developed for the 2022 MX-5 Miata roadster. As the name suggests, the program inhibits body lift during cornering, improving stability and traction and helping the driver maintain a normal driver position.

Although the CX-90 is an all-new model that uses Mazda’s new platform, its styling isn’t too different from the automaker’s current SUV line-up. The exterior is very similar to the CX-9 and shares its sculpted lines with the CX-50. The larger SUV platform gives it a wider body and a longer wheelbase than the CX-9, where the CX-9 only offers up to 20-inch wheels, while the CX-90 comes with 21-inch black metallic wheels. The new Artisan Red exterior paint color was developed specifically for the SUV (and will also be exclusive to the SUV).

The CX-90’s interior platform has been enlarged, increasing passenger and cargo space, the automaker says. The CX-9 now seats six or seven passengers, with two passengers in the second, third and third rows. The CX-90 offers eight-passenger seating with bench or captain’s chairs in the second and third rows.

The CX-90’s interior is consistent with the brand’s other SUVs, featuring clean lines and luxurious materials such as Nappa leather, wood trim, and unique dashboard components inspired by Japanese weaving and hand-bedding techniques. (Materials like Nappa leather and wood trim are available on the premium Signature trim on the CX-9.)

A Journey Of Electrification

The CX-90 has a 12.3-inch center screen (10.25 inches on the CX-9), which is positioned higher on the dashboard and relies more on control buttons than a touchscreen for multimedia operations. Unlike some automakers that have abandoned physical buttons for touchscreen controls, Mazda offers a number of physical buttons for accessing climate controls. The CX-90 adds a USB-C charging port to all three series.

Mazda’s i-Activsense driver assistance and safety system (also standard on the CX-9) features automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning with lane departure assist. .. A new View-Through View screen will appear on the CX-90, but it was not immediately clear how this feature differs from the 360-degree camera system on the CX-50.

The 2024 CX-90 will go on sale in the U.S. in the spring, but Mazda has not yet announced trim options or pricing for its latest SUV. The CX-50 will be priced around the CX-5 when it arrives in 2022, but thanks to its upgraded engine, we expect the CX-90 to cost $40,025 more than the CX-9 (including destination). and Performance characteristics.

Expert Review 2024 Lotus Eletre R Quick Spin: Not a Traditional Lotus By Aaron Bragman, Detroit Bureau Chief

2023 Mercedes-AMG SL43 Quick Spin Expert Review: Proving You Really Don’t Need a V-8, Detroit Bureau Chief Aaron Bragman says Mazda is relying solely on its new model to comply with new emissions standards that take effect in Europe in 2021. Also, the energy-efficient SKYACTIV-X engine will lead to an all-electric vehicle next year and a plug-in hybrid model in 2021 or 2022.

The small Japanese automaker is working with its biggest domestic rival Toyota to develop a new EV architecture, while the Mazda EV will use an independent platform.

Interestingly, Marumoto’s famous rotary engine is said to return as an extension of the electric vehicle range. However, don’t expect to see a new car powered by a rotary engine any time soon. Everyone at Mazda wants this to happen, but the company has so much going on that the project is currently on hold with no timetable.

News: Introducing The All New 2023 Mazda Cx 90 Plug In Hybrid

Mazda electric cars and plug-in hybrids are great news for Europe. What about North America? An electric Mazda is also on the way, but the exact strategy remains a complete mystery for now. The SKYACTIV-X engine has not yet been approved in Canada.

In related news, we learned in May that Mazda is developing new six-cylinder versions of its SKYACTIV-X and SKYACTIV-D (diesel) engines to fit the new “grand architecture.” The latter will likely be rear-wheel drive, but Mazda’s i-ACTIV all-wheel drive system could be part of the equation. Some models are slated to use a 48-volt mild hybrid system, while others are slated to use a plug-in hybrid system. The new Mazda CX-5 is expected to go on sale in 2025, and the CX-5 hybrid engine should be sold alongside the CX-50. , CX-70 and CX-90 Mazda showrooms in the United States.

With 135 of the 365 units sold last year, the CX-5 is Mazda’s most popular vehicle. Despite such huge sales, it is rumored that its life is numbered with the release of several new models. But now the CX-5 seems to be getting a reprieve in the form of an all-new third generation.

An official launch date has yet to be finalised, but Mazda has confirmed that the new CX-5 should hit showrooms alongside the CX-50 and larger CX-90 SUVs. The new CX-5 will likely have a similar configuration to the current model, with a four-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive.
