Mazda 3 Key Fob Battery – I can’t remember if it’s a 2032 and 2015 battery, but it’s easily interchangeable. It’s available at any drugstore or cheap on Amazon if you don’t mind buying more than a few. You do not need to reprogram the fob.

Know someone who has changed the battery while the remote control is on top of their toolbox. A static discharge appeared and fried his fob. Suggest disassembling the fob/replacing the battery while the fob is on some non-conductive material.

How often do you think these need to be replaced? Looks like mine only made it for 2 1/2 years. I had a 2001 Saturn that I think replaced the fob battery twice in the 14 years I had it.

My first fob battery started dying a month or two ago. I just replaced the fobs with spare parts but it was almost 2 years old for me.

So mine started showing up regularly? you cannot start the car with the start button and you have to use the RFID chip to start the car. The lock and unlock buttons work well.

Is this a battery problem? I made the mistake of running with the keys in my pocket so it rang for about an hour and then the problem started.

How do you unlock the fob? I don’t feel comfortable opening it and risking breaking it. Or would something like this be covered under warranty? I’ve had the car for about a year and a half – 2015 model.

Do these key fob batteries last longer if you press the button to find the door open instead of pressing the button on the key to transmit the RF signal?

I just replaced the battery in my 2014 3 fob and have never used it (THEY alarm uses). It seems the consensus is to change it every two years to avoid problems.

I just changed mine in 2014, I bought two packs of 2025 for $1 at the Dollar Tree store. The car’s owner’s manual has instructions.

2032 is 0.7mm thick (20 – 20mm wide, 32 – 3.2mm thick) – will this cause mounting problems in the battery holder? undoubtedly

2032 typically ~ 225 mah, 2025 ~ 165 mah – that’s a decent increase in performance when you consider that these cells are usually the same price regardless of size (2016/2025/2032)

Our Miata recently left. Bought it last December. Yeah, I don’t know how old the batteries were back then, but the forum guys at miata.net said they only lasted about a year.

Think our three are still working since we bought the car last year in September. Don’t forget that you have to attach the fob to the top of the start button to start it. I had to remove the key from the remote end of the Miata to start it and open the trunk and doors.

We always use the buttons on the doors and trunk or inside the trunk instead of the fob. Do not touch the fobs again.

I tried to install a 2032 battery, in my experience you have to squeeze it hard to get it to fit, which can cause damage to the housing or high load in the area.

It won’t stay wet without the battery cover and even if you put the battery cover on it will still leak a little.
