It continues to stand out as one of the most refined and spacious options in the midsize sedan segment. A key aspect of its appeal is its blend of functionality and excitement.

The current deal belongs to the 11th generation, which was launched only last year. A notable update for this generation is the standard hybrid electric powertrain available in four of the Accord’s six configurations.

This hybrid system produces 204 horsepower and can combine up to 44 mpg depending on the specific model – the best fuel efficiency for the vehicle. For those not interested in hybrid technology, the base Accord is equipped with a 192-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Additional features include state-of-the-art technology and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and driver assistance options, turning your car into a mobile smart device.

According to the EPA, the hybrid version of the 2023 Accord has a fuel efficiency rating of 51 mpg in the city and 48 mpg on the highway.

In contrast, the standard, non-hybrid Accord lags behind with figures of 29 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. However, in testing, the non-hybrid Accord EX managed an impressive 40 mpg on our 75-mph highway circuit.

Based on these numbers, the 2024 Accord version should offer similar performance, but it will be a new and improved model, and Honda fans should expect improvements in the fuel economy department.

While we’re talking about the entire Accord lineup, it’s worth noting that only the LX and EX models come with a gasoline engine option. All other configurations are hybrids.

Please note that this is an approximation of Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) and does not include factory-dealer shipping and handling charges. For reference, the set price for last year’s model was $1,095.

Honda has yet to announce an official release date. We will update this article as soon as the company releases this information.

I have a degree in Economics from Singidunum University in New Zealand and currently contribute to Southwest Magazine as a content creator and SEO strategist. Professionally, I am dedicated to producing engaging content and effective SEO strategies. Outside of work, I enjoy skiing and exploring new adventures, always appreciating the power of human connection. My diverse skills and passion for life drive my success in various endeavors. Since its introduction in 1992 with the flagship Honda NSX, the Type R badge has always been a main ticket item at Honda. The US didn’t see its first Type R model until 1998, when Acura introduced the Integra coupe under the luxury subsidiary Acura. After 20 years, it wasn’t just the U.S. The U.S. finally got the Type R badge on the compact Civic in 2017, making it the fifth iteration of the “CTR” moniker and a cool tenth generation for the base car itself. Needless to say, when the first official Civilian series arrived, American fans were hungry.

Now, we Americans are rewarded with the second-generation Honda Civic Type R, known in automotive circles by the internal chassis code “FL5”. Compared to the original FK8, the FL5 can be described as “two steps back, three steps forward”, mainly based on its appearance. Power and performance speak for Type R fans, and most won’t be disappointed, but the price, especially in this economic climate, is definitely a talking point.

So, we spent the week with the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R at the White Classic Championship and we have something to say about it.

We’ll start with the elephant in the room: the exterior. Since its introduction in 2017, the FK8 Honda Civic Type R has received very mixed reviews, mostly for its looks. “Wild style”, “boy racer”, “Hedgehog” and other epithets are often heard because of the high aesthetics of the car. The FK8 has adopted a halo of wings, wings, cuts, corners, false holes, bends and triangles, making it a monster. Sure, the elements may have made the car more aerodynamically functional, but the consensus was that everything added to the conservative Civic was too much.

What Does Honda Certified Pre Owned Mean?

So, Honda responded and introduced the FL5 Civic Type R. The result is…more subtle. At first glance, it could easily be mistaken for a modified base Civic, often popular with young car enthusiasts. As you get closer, the dead giveaways you see in the Type R are wider and wider rear fenders and a darker rear spoiler. The bumpers are beautiful, with flares and curves to give the car a much-needed aggressive stance, especially when viewed from above. However, the rear wheel looks less like an afterthought than the factory-to-play stuff. Honda offers a carbon fiber wing option for over $5,000, but opting for that would make it look like a house, which it doesn’t. However, while mature users may prefer the slim route, fans and enthusiasts looking for a bargain won’t bat an eye.

The sleek design now brings the car back to the original C-type design principle… and for many, that’s the right move.

We weren’t impressed with the wheels, with Honda opting to go with 19″ wheels, while the previous generation came with 20″ wheels. The steering wheel design is good, but its smaller size is wrapped thinly, though excellent Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 265/30 tires are understated. We’d like to see it not only bigger and wider, but with tires with a stiffer 35 profile.A slightly lower stance would also be appreciated.

Overall, we understand that the subtle design now brings the car in line with the Civic Type R’s design – “if you know, you know” – and for the most part it’s the right move, but we’re just being conservative and incomplete.

Honda decided to dress things up inside, and the first thing you’ll notice is the red carpet and floor mats. No burgundy or maroon – all bright red. If that wasn’t enough, drive the Type R at night and you’ll notice red LED striping around the skin and doors, not to mention red resort lights. If Honda wants to reinforce the idea that “R” is red; Mission accomplished.

Functionality is key, as there’s a lot to appreciate about the FL5. The cup holders are perfectly placed in the center, just below the keyboard, to prevent your elbow from spitting or bumping into them. Everything is easy to access and requires no training to understand: black dots for the physical volume and temperature buttons, not to mention the climate control that isn’t buried inside the touchscreen. The (smooth) leather steering wheel and Alcantara touch points are truly comfortable, and the Type R’s unique half-buckets remain our favorite seats on any compact sports car. All of this is secondary to the fantastic manual shifter and the aluminum shifter, which feels almost fluid in the hand.

Outside of the Sport credentials, the interior is sparse. There are many things that remind you that you are in the economy box. The “L R” side mirror switch is the weakest inch of plastic we’ve ever felt. The lights inside the empty mirrors look like plastic toys; they are very pale and weak. of each word
