I saw a post on this site that said to use a Mazda E-Loop battery (called Q85) because it has a high amp capacitor, but that is incorrect. I found a Mazda post detailing the technology and the battery and capacitor.

However, I read online that only Mazda dealers can help replace the battery for about $400-$600.

The “catch” in that step is that there is a current check on the negative wire, which isn’t on a normal car, and if you jump over the vehicle (if you do) you don’t want to cut the wire after the I-ELOP “Charging” warning occurs. I’m guessing the current cause is maxed out as the battery produces hydrogen when charged which can cause a really big spark when you disconnect it…..
