Know someone who changes the battery while the remote is on top of your toolbox. While roasting your fob, there is constant shedding. Recommend that you disassemble the remote control/replace the battery while the remote control is on non-automated devices.

So mine started a while ago? Pushing the start button could not start the car and had to use the RFID tag to start the car. The lock and unlock buttons work well.

Will these keyboard batteries work if you press the door open button instead of pressing the key on the keyboard that emits the RF signal?
Just replaced the battery in my 2014 3 remote and I don’t use it (DEI alert remote user). As the consensus needs to be changed every 2 years to avoid problems.
I replaced mine in 2014, buying two packs of 2025s at the Dollar Tree store for $1. There are instructions in the vehicle manual.

I just replaced the keyboard battery with a 2032 (because I have one lying around). No one seems to know for sure whether 2032 (or other alternative measures) will destroy the FOB. Are there any engineers who can fix this once and for all?
2032 is 0.7mm thick (20 – 20mm diameter, 32 – 3.2mm thick) – will this cause compatibility issues in the battery holder? Doubt
2032 is typically ~225 mah, 2025 is ~165 mah – this is a nice improvement in runtime when you consider that these cells are always the same price regardless of size (2016/2025/2032).
The ones on our Miata are gone soon. Bought last December. Don’t know how old the batteries were back then, of course, but the miata.net forum leaders say they last about a year.
Shrinking The 2020 Key Fob
Our thinking for the 3 is still in the works since we bought the car a year ago in September. Remember that you have to hold the fob up to the start button to start. The key must be removed from the trunk end of the Miata to start it and open the trunk and doors.
We often use keys instead of fobs on door and trunk lids or inside the trunk. Don’t touch the fobs now.
I tried to fit a 2032 battery, in my experience you have to squeeze a lot to fit it which can result in damage to the housing or over stressing the area.
It won’t sit flat without the battery cover, and it will stay put even if you keep the battery cover on.
