Clothing/Household Donations. Hi Neighbors, I usually donate to GOODWILL, unfortunately my donation was declined at the Sunland Foothills location. They said it was full. They referred me to Montrose and said they could accept my donation. I drove to Montrose and they refused to accept donations. I have beautiful clothes, household items and books. I am confused to see that GOODWILL is refusing donations. It’s a real struggle. I would like advice on other services that accept donations and encourage others not to use Goodwill. Metro: There are two metro stations within walking distance of the memorial hall. Foggy Bottom/George Washington University Blue, Orange and Silver Lines are the closest stations – turn right at the top of the stairs and walk about 6 blocks south on 23rd Street to Memorial. Smithsonian Blue, Orange or Silver Line, about twice as long as the Foggy Bottom station – at the top of the escalators turn toward the Capitol, turn west and walk past the Washington Monument to about 21st to the Vietnam Veterans entrance Memorial and the Constitution. Taxi/Uber/Lyft: Taxis are usually available on Constitution Avenue. If attempting to take an Uber/Lyft, visitors should use Constitution Ave NW & 21st St NW, Washington, DC 20245.

Bikes: Visitors can use Capital Bikeshare to visit the National Mall, including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The closest bike share station to the monument is at 21st Street and Constitution Avenue NW. Note: Bicycles and motorized scooters are not permitted on the memorial sidewalks.

Car: Parking spaces are very limited, so we recommend using public transport. Parking on Constitution Avenue and many streets around the National Mall now have paid/metered parking in time-limited spaces. For more information, visit NPS.

Tour Buses: The nearest drop-off point for tour buses is at 21st Street NW at Constitution Ave NW, marked by signs. Tour bus parking is limited on Ohio Avenue.

The more than 58,000 names inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial can be found in several ways.

Before you visit: The Wall of Faces has a page dedicated to all the people whose names are inscribed on the wall. Use it to locate service members, view photos, and learn more about their service and sacrifices.

During your visit: There are several indexes at the entrance to the Memorial Corridor. These lists list the names of the monuments in alphabetical order. Staff and NPS volunteers are on hand year-round to assist visitors with name searches and name massages.

Another organization that accepts donations for almost anything in good health is the Vietnam Veterans of America. VVA serves more than a dozen states, so you can schedule a pickup in up to 24 hours. This is a good option if you are moving fast or want to clear space as quickly as possible. Once you donate, your items will be sold and the proceeds will benefit local and national Vietnam Veterans of America programs.

Goodwill makes it so easy to donate big tickets, and the money from the resale of the donations helps support their diverse staff.

With more than 3,000 locations across the country, there’s likely a charity near you where you may have donated a few bags of clothing or browsed the racks for unique second-hand items. But did you know they also come to your door? Contact the nearest store and ask if you can arrange for furniture or items that are difficult to ship to be collected. Each charity operates independently, so donations may be received in a different way. Before scheduling a pickup date, you must send photos of your products, which must be in good structural condition and free of pet hair and stains. They also have electronics, but they may not be more than two years old.
