Uppababy Mesa Infant Car Seat 2015 – When UPPAbaby launched the rear-facing MESA car seat, ease of use and comfort were taken to a new level. Since we first wrote this review, UPPAbaby has announced some exciting new seats, but for now we’re going to spend some time with the MESA rear car seat.

The MESA is one of the easiest anchor installations I’ve ever done. The SMARTSecure system incorporates a lower ratcheting anchor strap. These ratchet straps have two independent retractors at the base. The retractors are similar to those in seat belt retractors. To begin installation, pull the lower anchor link out of the fastener storage compartment on the base, then press the orange button on the top of the base. This button allows you to pull straps from the base. The straps should be pulled as far away from the base as possible while still holding the orange button. The hardest part of the installation is holding the strap until the lower anchor link is attached to the vehicle’s lower anchor. Premium anchor slots on the bottom help with this step.
Once the connectors are attached, loosen the lower anchor strap, which clips into the base to secure the base. You don’t have to pull the tails of the lower anchor strap like most car seats. Do this with each side and then push the back of the base until the voltage indicator turns green. Rocking the stand back and forth can help with this step.
