Anyway, the wheels are TSW Nurburgring in Matte Gunmetal. They are 18X9.5, 5-120. I bought a new set of Mickey Thompson 305 35 18’s for this project and I don’t mind saying this, I was worried about brake and inner wheel interference, but there was none. They look perfect for this car. The wheels are built to C5 Z06 rear wheel specs if you can find a set that duplicates my package. By the way, these wheels are about 11 pounds lighter than the OEM wheels and tires. That’s a reduction of 22 pounds. The tires are 1 1/2 inches wider than regular tires and 1/2 inch shorter.

Yes, this is a drag racing setup. I didn’t have access to anything reasonably priced for front wheels and tires. From what I’ve heard, Cadillac and GTO replacement tires are the answer if you’re looking for cheaper. My ultimate goal is to run under 12 seconds, which shouldn’t be a problem. My previous best on OEM only CAI tires was 12.08. I expect 11:95 or better with this setup. I’m going to the Holley LS Fest in September and I’m running in the low 12s.

I put the kit in the car and drove about 80 miles on the highway waiting for the TPMS sensors to program themselves as some have suggested. That didn’t work. The solution is to buy my own programmer so I can do it on the drag strip. Someone mentioned that the launch control will not work if the low tire pressure warning comes on, which the computer reads…actually zero without the TPMS sensors programmed. Basically, I don’t use launch control, so it wouldn’t bother me.

Being half an inch shorter than OEM won’t hurt anything and will probably effectively lower the final gear ratio to some extent.

As for price, I found a lot of 305 35 18 tires for $580 a set. Used wheels cost me $400 and included TPMS sensors from 2016. Both tires cost about 20 to mount and balance, leaving me with a lot of money to trade.

Normally I don’t do a lot of burnouts, and with DR I doubt that burnouts are necessary. My car broke down several times. I will test it soon. Having said that, the settings will have residual value when I no longer need them. They also look great on the Camaro. I wish I could find a complete set for both front and back… love it.

Thanks to you I am now buying a set of 20×10-20×11 1LE replicas in gloss black for my MBM SS. As for tires, I will be using Nitto G2 275/40ZR20 front and 305/35R20 NT555R rear. This will be my full time summer setup. OP, your brake setup is much better, but I’m tired of switching the rear wheels back and forth. Also, since my M6 car will be close to stock, the NT555Rs have plenty of grip, but I expect they won’t have axle grip. Plus, with the NT555R’s short sides, they work well on the racetrack or in autocross if I choose. It also wears very well. The NT555R is not the best tire in any category, but it may be one of the best rear tires (street/drag/track).

Then, after my standard runflats are baked, I powder coat the wheels and mount Michelin winter tires for a winter setup. This will pair well with the Snow/Ice setting. Will consumption ever stop?

I love the look of the gloss black 1LE wheels. They look good on 5th and 6th generation Camaros. I would buy this set if I had the money… I envy you… haha. I have a lot of respect for Nitto tires and I agree, they probably don’t stand out in any particular category, but they may be near the top in overall tire performance. I have used the NT05R in several of my cars and they have been amazing.

If there was somewhere nearby that was reasonably priced to go on the trip, I’d love to do it. In Italy I did extensive road racing on closed tracks and stupid public roads in the Alps near Cortina. When I was in Germany I did about 20 laps at different times at the Nürburgring and some at Hockenheim. Europeans are incredible competitors and my C5 Vette made them believe America could make a competitive car. Just ask the few Ferraris near Modena on the Autostrada…hahaha…so much fun!!

Do you see any problem with fitting the 305/40/18? 35 is 26.6″ tall and 40 is 28″ tall.
