Looks like I can answer some of my questions by doing more research and working on the car. I thought I’d post some articles here in case it might be helpful to anyone. All of this relates to point 1 of my previous post: the immobilizer coil.

No Start Immobilizer Issue?

First, the 95401-1H000 is the correct part if your LED cylinder is on. You get a coil with a wire terminated with pins to match the 6 pin connector (Figure 1).

This article answers some of my questions. There is no need to remove the microswitch from the barrel as it (yay!) switches the 2 pins (black and white wire) on the coil terminals. However, I decided to remove the microswitch because I needed access to the socket.

The pins don’t look like most connectors I’ve seen before. They do not have a tang/slot to hold metal; Instead, the plug has a plastic latch/step. It seems that they are special Korean KET connectors. I found it hard to remove, but it’s easy once you know how.

1) Remove the control cover (and lower the tool if necessary to access it properly). One steering wheel under the hood, two behind the steering wheel (turn the steering wheel to find the screws). The bottom board is secured with 4 screws (2 behind the fuse cover) and cables.

6) Remove the coil/LED assembly. The LED rotates with a small screwdriver under the retaining clips separates the LED holder from the coil.

7) Now you need to remove the pins from the black and white wires and replace them with a new coil. To do this, you need to defeat two storage devices:

7a) Remove the clip holding the plastic pin; a small screwdriver and a soft screwdriver will help. You can plug a little bit for this, but I haven’t found a better way. I found the right arrow in Figure 4 to be very effective

7b) Remove the connecting pins. For this you will need a very small knife (1-1.5 mm). Your goal is to insert the knife straight up the pin until it hits the plastic tang and then slowly lift it up. Pull the cord while doing this and it will come out easily if you have Figure 5

7c) Replace them with new pins. I don’t think black/white is important, but my black is next to the yellow/red wire. These new pins are fixed with one click.

7d) I then coated everything with silicone grease before replacing the plastic pin. I found it went in slowly (towards the exit). Press firmly to restore Figure 6

9a) If you removed the microswitch from the cylinder, just put it back carefully before replacing it in the cylinder. It’s easier to restore than to delete! Attach it to the slot and push it to the end of the key. Figure 7

9b) If you have removed the barrel from the ignition, insert the key, turn it to the ACC position and slowly return it to the barrel. You must connect the “Entry” line.
