So your AC is blowing hotter air than a politician waiting for Bummer re-election! Rolling the windows down so far and sitting in a pool of sweat standing under your thighs and oil-rich fumes from the exhaust is a recipe for a nasty, nauseating drive.

Freon Cost For Your Car ❤️ What You Need To Know!

Contrary to the common belief that AC injects icy air into the cabin, the AC system creates a feeling of cool air by heating hot air less. Instead of adding cold, it removes heat. This is achieved by a circulation system that includes a compressor and a condenser and is based on a refrigerant that absorbs heat. The most common reason for AC system overheating is low coolant level.

Fortunately, this is also the easiest way to fix it. To return to the feeling of ice and freshness in the heat of summer,

The information team is here to show you exactly what you need, what to do and how to do it.

There are seven main components of a car’s AC system. The system uses a closed loop format and uses refrigerant throughout. Here’s the role of each piece of the puzzle:

Working on your car can be dangerous and dirty, so this is exactly what you need to make sure you don’t get killed, maimed or lose a finger.

Also, working with compressed air containers presents its own safety issues. Never place the pressure can over direct heat or over a hot engine block. In very rare cases, the container can get so hot that the compressed air explodes.

Or if you don’t want to bother with a bunch of parts and want to have everything you need neatly organized in one place, you can use the AC Charger Kit.

Organizing your tools and equipment so that everything you need to charge your AC is within reach will save you precious minutes waiting for a handyman or four-legged helper to bring you sandpaper or a torch. (

You’ll also need a flat work area such as a garage, driveway, or street parking to properly charge your AC. Check your local laws to make sure you’re not breaking any codes when using the street because we won’t let you down.

Anyone who can follow instructions can charge the AC car. Take off your goggles and gloves, grab your cooling gear and connecting hose, and let’s cool down!

Know that while our “how-to” guides are detailed and easy to follow, a rusty bolt, misaligned engine components, or oil leaks everywhere can derail a project. The company’s editors worked on dozens of vehicles and spent hundreds of hours spinning under fluorescent garage lights. During our experiences, we picked up a few tricks and pointed out the important ones. Here’s what we learned while charging an electric car.

Coolant is slowly leaking from the car’s AC system, but there is no AC maintenance program. If you have one of the AC pressure gauges, just use it to check the system whenever the AC seems to be cooling.

A typical can of soda costs less than $10. A can that includes the hose and gauge will probably cost $40-$50.

Since you might not have access to the right tools or a friend to turn to, we’ve also rounded up our best hacks to make your life easier and your pocket less empty. Spring has finally arrived. You turn on the air conditioning for the first time in the season. And for some reason it just blows hot air!?!? You’re sweating now… what’s up… the compressor? … is it an AC belt? … What gives? … is this going to be expensive?!?!

Do not you worry! The most likely reason the AC is not working is that during the winter, some refrigerant escapes from the system through small leaks in pipes, joints, or flanges. When the AC system turns to refrigerant, the compressor doesn’t even turn on, causing the AC to not work at all. This is good because your compressor pump won’t burn out, but bad because now you’ll be sweating all summer long…

Follow these steps and you’ll be enjoying the cool weather in no time! Say goodbye to stains and arrive at your destination calm, cool and collected!

The first step is to open the hood and locate the low and high pressure connections of the air conditioning system. In the image below, I have drawn red arrows pointing to these ports.

Remove the high pressure fitting (usually the red hose) from your A/C gauge kit and connect it to the car’s high pressure fitting. I recommend doing this with the car off.

Note: The high and low pressure ports are different sizes, so if the gauge doesn’t fit, you may be trying to connect it to the wrong port.

Place the gauges in a suitable place on the underside of the hood. We want to check the pressure during the operation.

Note: In this photo below, the coolant is already connected to the yellow tube, but the next step…!

One thing I would like to point out is that with the car off, you will get something like a high pressure reading on the low pressure side and something like a low pressure reading on the high pressure side.

If you read the numbers carefully, they are actually almost the same value because the scales of the two counters are different! (In my case, about 60 psi or so.)

It is good if there is some pressure in the system as this helps to ensure that the system has not sucked air due to possible leaks in the system.

The next step is to start the car and put the air conditioning on full blast. We want to get pressure with the car running, so go ahead and start the engine. Make sure none of the tubes are hanging in the cooling fan or coil belt area.

What Type Of Refrigerant Does My Car Need?

If the coolant is low, you will usually have low pressure at both gauges. In my case, the low pressure side shows about 10 psi and the high pressure side shows about 80 psi (see image below):

If you find yourself in a situation where the low and high pressure gauges are low (with the engine running), you will need to charge your A/C system with refrigerant.

One thing I would like to mention about these cans is that some of them are single use, meaning when you attach the can to your gauge manifold the top breaks off and has to be ‘use the entire contents of the can or keep it connected. . .

These types of cans have a small partition inside the opening that the gauge needle pushes down and releases the refrigerant. This allows you to turn it off when the can is not completely empty and save the rest for later.

Note: When using the sealable type, only remove the pin halfway, otherwise the seal will seal again!

Once you’ve determined that you need to add refrigerant to your A/C system, take a can of R134a and screw it into the yellow tube of your gauge manifold.

NOTE: Make sure the “pin” inside the yellow tube connection is completely out (turn the knob fully counterclockwise) before connecting it to the coolant can.

When the can is fully hardened, we are ready to release the coolant from the can. Don’t worry, we’ll get the refrigerant into the air conditioning system in the next step.

Turn the knob (the silver knob on top of the can) fully clockwise. If you have a single-use can of R134a, the needle will pierce the top of the can. Then turn the silver knob fully counterclockwise to drain the coolant from the can.

If you have a sealable can, turn the silver knob clockwise, then pull it out about 1/2 way. You have to keep the pin in contact with the div so the can doesn’t close again!

You are now ready to introduce the refrigerant to the AC system. To do this, shake the can several times, then turn the knob on top of the meter. In my case you are actually turning the low (blue) pressure gauge, but another gauge
