The first step is to open the hood and locate the low and high pressure connections of the air conditioning system. In the image below, I have drawn red arrows pointing to these ports.

Remove the high pressure fitting (usually the red hose) from your A/C gauge kit and connect it to the car’s high pressure fitting. I recommend doing this with the car off.
Note: The high and low pressure ports are different sizes, so if the gauge doesn’t fit, you may be trying to connect it to the wrong port.
Place the gauges in a suitable place on the underside of the hood. We want to check the pressure during the operation.

One thing I would like to point out is that with the car off, you will get something like a high pressure reading on the low pressure side and something like a low pressure reading on the high pressure side.
If you read the numbers carefully, they are actually almost the same value because the scales of the two counters are different! (In my case, about 60 psi or so.)
It is good if there is some pressure in the system as this helps to ensure that the system has not sucked air due to possible leaks in the system.
The next step is to start the car and put the air conditioning on full blast. We want to get pressure with the car running, so go ahead and start the engine. Make sure none of the tubes are hanging in the cooling fan or coil belt area.

If the coolant is low, you will usually have low pressure at both gauges. In my case, the low pressure side shows about 10 psi and the high pressure side shows about 80 psi (see image below):
If you find yourself in a situation where the low and high pressure gauges are low (with the engine running), you will need to charge your A/C system with refrigerant.
One thing I would like to mention about these cans is that some of them are single use, meaning when you attach the can to your gauge manifold the top breaks off and has to be ‘use the entire contents of the can or keep it connected. . .
These types of cans have a small partition inside the opening that the gauge needle pushes down and releases the refrigerant. This allows you to turn it off when the can is not completely empty and save the rest for later.

Note: When using the sealable type, only remove the pin halfway, otherwise the seal will seal again!
Once you’ve determined that you need to add refrigerant to your A/C system, take a can of R134a and screw it into the yellow tube of your gauge manifold.
NOTE: Make sure the “pin” inside the yellow tube connection is completely out (turn the knob fully counterclockwise) before connecting it to the coolant can.
When the can is fully hardened, we are ready to release the coolant from the can. Don’t worry, we’ll get the refrigerant into the air conditioning system in the next step.

Turn the knob (the silver knob on top of the can) fully clockwise. If you have a single-use can of R134a, the needle will pierce the top of the can. Then turn the silver knob fully counterclockwise to drain the coolant from the can.
If you have a sealable can, turn the silver knob clockwise, then pull it out about 1/2 way. You have to keep the pin in contact with the div so the can doesn’t close again!
You are now ready to introduce the refrigerant to the AC system. To do this, shake the can several times, then turn the knob on top of the meter. In my case you are actually turning the low (blue) pressure gauge, but another gauge
