During World War II, Chevrolet ceased production of civilian vehicles to aid the war effort. However, this does not mean that Chevrolet will stop making cars. Chevrolet converted its factories for the war and produced the T-17 Staghound complete with a jet engine and various other parts.
In the mid-1960s, Chevrolet introduced the Turbo Titan II concept, a jet-powered vehicle inspired by the space race. At the time, almost every company was going for the “space age” look, and the automakers were taking things up a notch. The Turbo Titan II had a unique “spaceship seat” and a diagrammed steering wheel, but luckily it never went into production.
No one knows where Chevrolet’s famous bow ties came from. Chevrolet founder Billy Durant claimed that the idea was inspired by ornate wallpaper in a French hotel, but that may not be entirely accurate.
