Nissan Rogue Flashing Red Car Symbol – Every few weeks I have this weird light flashing on my dashboard and I finally manage to pull over and take a picture of it before it goes away. Do you know what it can be and what it looks like?
That’s so strange I’ve never been in a crash, the truck only has 11,000 miles on it. I have to take it in for an oil change so hopefully they can restore it.

I did this several times and reset and it never came back. It’s a strange thing to see.

This light comes on when the camera in the windshield is obstructed by frost or snow or frozen precipitation. The collision mitigation system is deactivated when a light flashes.
Mine will blink slowly when driving in very bright sun. Usually when the sun is low in the sky. It stops when I move away from the sun.
Mine flash while driving in slush/snow. Stopping for a minute and brushing the front radar sensor seems to have cleared it up for me.
It came in while I was doing 60 on the freeway and I used the brakes out of nowhere…sorry a bit, and it did it twice slow to my gf. I want it gone!!!

I don’t believe there is a way to turn it off that doesn’t result in warning lights being illuminated on the dash and trouble codes.

Yes, I got many warnings on the screen with the brakes applied when it happened on the freeway. I’ll probably have to go to the dealership to get it checked out. Thank you, people!!!
Unrecognizable! I thought that was the case when you mentioned that the light comes on when you apply the brakes.
If you find the thread about random system failures, I posted my service showing the TSB, parts and codes the techs found to reproduce the problem so they could fix it. As it is an intermittent and random issue, it may take a while for the dealership to reproduce the issue and justify proceeding with the TSB (annoying, I know)
It happens occasionally in any car with similar systems, but if it happens regularly and appears for no reason, you should consider taking it – the sensor array may be out of calibration or dirty.

I’ve had this happen twice in over a year of ownership, both times during really deep snow storms where a lot of ice formed. It didn’t happen otherwise.

I had this pop up once on my limousine due to snow/fog on the front of the truck. A woman’s CRV does this more often in similar weather conditions. The sensor for your ride is further forward and gets covered in snow/snow more easily than on the limousine. All this depends on several reasons.
As others have reported, sunlight hitting it at a certain angle can turn it off. As long as you are aware of the ‘safe’ conditions when it happens, I wouldn’t worry too much. Unfortunately “it’s normal” for this type of technology (not bad). But if you notice it comes on at various other times that don’t make any sense, I would go to the dealer to have it checked and recalibrated or whatever.
