Mazda New Vehicles 2022 – The facelifted Mazda CX-5 is now on sale. Prices start at $30,000 and increase from $1,000 to $1,500.

Mazda Australia has already raised the on-road price of the CX-5 by $200 as part of its April 2022 price hike.

Mazda CX-5 Maxx starts at $32,390 for the 2.0L FWD manual and $53,880 for the Akera 2.2d AWD.

In addition to looks inspired by the smaller CX-30 car, the CX-5 also has strong ride dimensions and the top-of-the-line Akera model.

The engine range remains unchanged for 2022, meaning buyers will have a choice between a 2.0-litre to 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbodiesel.

What’s In Store For 2022

Model list reduced from 16 to 12. The base Maxx is now available only with the 2.0-liter engine and front-wheel drive. The Maxx Sport and Touring diesel models are gone and the GT model has been discontinued.

The new CX-5 will compete against the likes of the Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and Nissan X-Trail, while it will also sit under the rear wheel drive of the premium Mazda CX-60. More awards in 2022.

The base CX-5 Maxx is powered by a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 115kW of power at 6000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 4000rpm.

The higher end models in this range will have a choice of three engines. It has a combination of petrol and all-wheel drive. It has a larger, naturally aspirated 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 140kW of power at 6000rpm and 252Nm of torque at 4000rpm.

The GT SP and Akera models have a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-liter gasoline engine that produces 170 kW of power at 5,000 rpm and 420 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.

Finally, the 2.2-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine continues until 2022 and is used in the Touring Active, GT and Akera grades, producing 140kW at 45rpm and 450Nm from 2000rpm.

All other models are equipped with a 6-speed automatic, 2.5-liter petrol engine, all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. Meanwhile, diesel and turbocharged models are available with all-wheel drive.

Combined with the CX-5’s 2.0-litre petrol engine, fuel economy is rated at 6.9 liters per 100km. The 2.5 liter petrol can pump up to 7.4 liters per 100 km.

How Much Can The 2022 Mazda Cx 5 Tow?

Fuel consumption increases to 8.2 l/100 km when using gasoline. Meanwhile the diesel is rated at 5.7 litres/100km on the combined cycle.

All models have idle stop/start technology. And all petrol models are designed in such a way that 91 RON is not regularly ignited.

Trunk space is 438 liters with the rear seats folded, and 1,340 liters with the 40/20/20 rear seats folded.

Service intervals and pricing for the updated CX-5 have not been revealed. But it may not have changed from the version before the update. It should be serviced every 12 months or 10,000 km.

The CX-5 scores 95% in adult protection, 80% in child protection, 78% in pedestrian protection and 59% in safety support.
