Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. With Mazda dropping the base 2.5 S, the 2.5 S Select is now the cheapest CX-5 you can get. It starts at $29,300 – $2,600 more than the 2023 CX-5 2.5 S, but you get more for your money. Select comes standard with heated front seats (power for the driver), six-speaker stereo system, and new for 2024 is Mazda’s i-Stop automatic engine start/stop system. That helps the S Select perform better at the pump, with the EPA combined fuel economy estimate improving to 28 mpg.

Mazda Australia has increased the previous on-the-road asking price for the CX-5 model by $200 as part of a range-wide price increase for April 2022.
A Mazda Australia spokesperson said this price increase was due to supply chain constraints as well as manufacturing costs.
The current Mazda CX-5 range starts at $32,390 before on-road costs for the Maxx 2.0L FWD manual and rises to $53,880 for the Akera 2.2d AWD.

The GT SP and Akera models can be had with a turbocharged 2.5-litre version of the four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 170kW at 5000rpm and 420Nm at 2000rpm.
Finally, the 2.2-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel continues for 2022, available in Touring Active, GT and Akera grades. Power to oil is 140 kW at 4500 rpm and 450 Nm from 2000 rpm.

All versions are equipped with stop / start idling technology and all gasoline versions are designed to run on regular 91 RON unleaded.
