It’s true! I already know that baking dry chicken wings works well in the oven, but I don’t need whole wings. I want to find the best way to cook frozen wings if I want to make enough for one or two people.

In fact, when I was thinking about the right way to achieve this goal, I realized that there are different types of wings that you can buy at the store. In addition to wings at the snack bar, the freezer aisle also has plenty of options. So I tried to choose different types.

These chicken wings are regular butcher shop wings that I freeze to cook later. If they don’t stick together, they don’t need to be pre-melted. If so, microwave them for about 30 seconds first so you can remove them.

These wings are really good. The ideal time for chicken wings with skin and tender meat is 20 minutes at 400°F. You don’t need to flip or move them, but you do want to cook them in one layer, which limits how many you can cook at a time. This version is shown in the recipe below.

It was good, but it turned out a little dry, so you want to use potatoes for this recipe. Smoked BBQ sauce or Buffalo Wing sauce is always a good choice.

Directions: Place 12 fully cooked wings in a freezer basket at 150°F and cook for 12 minutes, then pour the sauce over them. You can cook more than 12 at a time, but you can increase the cooking time to 14-16 minutes.

You can find a lot of chicken wings in the frozen food aisle these days. However, there are no instructions on how to bake them in the air dryer, which can be quite tricky.

There are many types of chicken wings in the frozen food aisle. I bought Honey BBQ and Tyson’s Wings in Buffalo to try.

Unfortunately, these wings are my least favorite in the air dryer. The best results of this type ended up with potato burns and scars. If you want to try it, I’ve included instructions for best results.

Dry Wings: Depending on your air dryer, you may need to add half of the water during cooking. Frozen wings tend to be moister than pre-cooked wings, and if the chicken thaws, liquid will escape, which can prevent the wings from drying out completely.
