The name ISOFIX comes from the combination between ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and FIX (Fixation). Standard ISOFIX offers two main safety features:

We all know that doonas work great for newborns, right? It is simple, light, and prevents us from waking our sleeping baby when you get out of the car to do some business. But, with such a high price: I want to dig the length of it – how small is the baby and how big is it? Is it really worth it? I tried this bike with my son Teddy in 10-12 months (he always falls within the “limits” for use) to see if it is easy and works like birthday again. Let’s go!
Doona is small. It is narrow and fits in the airplane island (about 20″). It is a little heavier than other car seats, but it is a single car/car seat.
The manual transmission has 2 upshifts. A short and a long one. There is no “in between”. If you are a very tall person, this can be difficult as the handlebars don’t go up (I think 34″ is the max). Adjust quickly as it can be an uncomfortable height for the short stuff, with siblings wanting to help Push their baby brother or sister (with the parent there too!) I love that there is an option for a small person. Really comfortable with a tall stroller – I think it’s too big that way – but I would like it to be A little longer with a higher adjustment. I’m about 5’7″ and it works for me, but my husband is somewhere around 6’0″ and felt it was too short to push comfortably without stepping on the back of the stroller.

The Doona is a car seat that can be installed with the original latch system, or it (fits the car with seat belts as shown below). Consumer Reports rated the Doona as “Excellent” overall, although in safety testing the Doona’s rating was “Good.” These are supplied without the LATCH file (per their website).
According to their website: Doona has undergone more than 100 crash tests to ensure baby’s safety and protection in a wide variety of scenarios. In addition to the performance tests, Doona has carried out many tests, in extreme conditions, to ensure that Doona not only meets the standards, but exceeds them. Additional tests include pushing at maximum speed, mixing in dry conditions, mixing with a 3-year-old dummy, and/or other weights, etc.
The Doona has successfully passed the compliance tests required by law, as well as the compliance tests above. In preliminary crash tests (the most common type of car crash), the Doona scored a top 5-star rating.
Head restraints are recommended regardless of age/size to improve side protection.

However, “the car seat passes FMVSS 213 all the time – with and without head restraints and without infant restraints” on Doona’s website.
Whether your baby meets the criteria for removal, or is uncomfortable with head restraints as he grows, is up to the parents.
We are very happy to read this because Teddy was very upset and angry with his head in the wrong place. Maybe it’s the size of his 10 month old head and the fact that it’s 90+ degrees outside, but he’s so warm and comfortable in the stroller that he cries and cries all the time. We tried to open it and he was very excited, so we left it when they used it as a stroller. I never wanted to change the safety of my baby, so this is something I wanted to do just in case, but I was a little down on the price of the stroller.
However, I was happy to read on the Doona website that it says to store it in place, but it’s nice and safe if it needs to be removed.
