Toyota hybrids are known to be some of the most reliable vehicles on the market today. In fact, it has been that way for two decades, since the Prius was first introduced to the public.

Put all the stupid fuses in the trunk and put the battery back in the engine compartment so we can go back to $110 led acid batteries!!!! !”

LMC found a DIY solution. “Nothing really came up when talking about the hybrid battery. There is a 12 volt power source in the back and then cells are mounted and sealed behind and under the rear seats. My 12 volt unit lasted over 9 years. As for the cells, me with a 28. If a cell is no longer able to hold at least 6.5% charge you can easily replace the cell in about 2 hours for about $90 per cartridge.First time just because you want to make make sure you know what to do to avoid getting an electric shock or damaging the car. It’s not hard. I learned from a video tutorial. I still hear stories from others that their Prius cost them several thousand needing to “replace the battery .” I just paid $210.00 for my 12 volt battery. I just don’t understand why and how thousands have to be given. How is this possible? Does this mean the dealer replaced all the cells instead of testing the defective ones? If so then it seems unnecessary unless of course it is in their own interest.

The previous battery warranty for 2020 hybrids was 8 years or 100,000 miles .

“I looked at a car last week with over 400,000 miles in 2007, with the same battery, ABS, motor and inverter,” Maen added.

What I have found though is that many owners have great success with their vehicles. Toyota hybrid batteries seem to last a long time in most vehicles.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why original Toyota Prius owners keep their cars for so long. Owner satisfaction. Plus, I suspect, great fuel economy too.
