Cheapest Ticket In The Philippines

Cheapest Ticket In The Philippines – During our first meeting with our followers last year, one of the questions the audience asked us was: How do you choose your next destination?

Before we answered, we giggled: we drive the longest to where we can fly cheaply. For many budget travelers, trip planning starts with the plane ticket. First we book an affordable flight, then we arrange everything else as the travel date approaches.

This is how I planned my trip. To be honest, I still work, although rarely. And I know I’m not the only one. Often the biggest financial obstacle is the plane ticket. It takes up a large portion of the budget, especially for international travel. Hotels, excursions and other expenses can be easily settled.

Best Day To Book Flights In 2024: Is Tuesday The Cheapest?

When we started, all our trips were based on promotional rates. But what if the chairs don’t sell? How can we find out the available rates?

In this post, we’ll share some flight booking tips and tricks we’ve learned over the past 10 years of travel blogging. Please note that we do not include promotional pricing tips as we have already written a separate post for that. (READ: HOW TO BOOK PROMO FLIGHTS SUCCESSFULLY!)

Skyscanner is a flight comparison website that aggregates flight prices worldwide so you can easily compare and choose. When we search, we instinctively enter the airport and departure destination. But Skyscanner has a feature that is often overlooked. If you haven’t decided on a destination yet and simply want to check where you can fly for the lowest price, just tap or type ANYWHERE in the Destination field.

When you press the search button, it will search for all flights coming from your starting point. For example, if you fly from Manila and enter ANYWHERE, you will see the destinations with the cheapest flights, sorted by price and country. Here’s an example:

When you click on a country it will be further broken down by city/airport. This trick also works when selling seats. And it’s a great hack if you’re trying to find promotional prices!

Speaking of Skyscanner, it’s also good practice to use flight comparison sites, even if you already have a destination in mind. I used to manually visit airline websites one by one when searching for flights. But now it’s much easier because there are many aggregators like Skyscanner, Kayak and Traveloka and airline alliances like Value Alliance.

The great thing about these sites is that they can also show you flights between airlines, even those without codeshare agreements. For example, let’s say you’re flying from Manila to Sapporo, Japan. In addition to connecting flights operated by the same airline (which are often expensive), the system can also offer options with two legs of flights operated by different airlines (which often work out cheaper). Check out the screenshots below.

I’ve become so dependent on these sites that when I see an attractive price, I first search Skyscanner or Traveloka to see if there are better deals.

If you’ve searched for a particular route but the price is too high, you can set a price alert so you’ll be notified if the fare drops. This feature is available on Skyscanner and Traveloka.

For example, if you only have a budget of P20,000 for a flight to New Zealand but the prices are always too high when you check out, you can activate an alert on your phone so that you don’t miss anything when the price drops below P20,000. It’s a great way to get your picture taken if the seats are sold out.

You’ll be surprised how far crowdsourcing can take you! Facebook is full of travel groups where members actively share tips, tricks and insights! We have our own support group on Facebook and often I hear about seat sales from members before the airline’s official announcements appear in my news feed.

It’s not just about selling chairs. Many unannounced or little known promotions are often shared here, including photos of their bookings. But that is not everything.

Bundle Of Two

A few years ago there was a major system error on an international flight booking website. It was originally posted in a private group online, but immediately spread like an avalanche to other Facebook groups. Several of my friends were able to book round-trip flights to the Maldives and Australia for less than P500! The Company has honored these deficit reserves.

It’s funny because a lot of my friends were in the Maldives for the weekend! Thanks to the Facebook groups!

During one of our European trips we encountered a problem. We were in Krakow, Poland and have to fly to Athens to catch our flight home. Although we tried many dates, unfortunately we could not find cheap flights from Krakow airport to Athens. Even the ones with a stopover in another city were way beyond our budget.

After the beat, I was about to book an expensive flight when I noticed that just below the “Origin” field on Skyscanner there was a little box that said: Add nearby airports.

Cheap Flights, Air Tickets

I typed in a search and found flights to Athens from another airport. It seems that just 1.5 hours drive from Krakow there is another option: Katowice Airport. And from there, flights to Athens were significantly cheaper.

I felt stupid for not realizing this sooner, as I always knew some destinations were served by more than one airport. Paris has three (CDG, Orly, Beauvais-Tille). Tokyo has two (Narita and Haneda). And some airports built for specific cities can be great alternatives to other destinations that aren’t too far away.

Can’t afford flights to Caticlan? Try Kalibo. Do you want to visit Caramoan, but flights to Naga are too expensive? Let’s take Catanduanes. Flights to Manila out of your budget? Look at Clark.

In my early years as a travel blogger, my philosophy was, “As long as I get to my destination in one piece, I’m fine.”

Toronto To Manila Flight Tickets

I would just grab the cheapest ticket in the first few minutes after the seats go on sale without considering the alternatives. But that has changed in recent years, especially for medium- and long-haul flights. Comfort is higher on my priority list. I started thinking about other aspects of the flight and how fun the trip would be. Maybe because I’m not younger. LOL.

For example, on the way back from the Maldives to Manila I was presented with two options. The low-cost carrier offers the lowest published fares, somewhere around P10,000, with long layovers. One full-service airline, on the other hand, sells tickets for PLN 16,000, which means a significantly shorter layover in Hong Kong. The old ones would now go for P10,000. A P6000 is a P6000. That’s a big difference.

However, after studying the details, I ended up booking the latter. Why? The airline’s published full-service price of 16,000 dinars included everything: food, seat selection and baggage allowance. The offering of low-cost airlines is devoid of all this. When I tried to add food (it was a long flight!) and luggage (because I was carrying a large one), the total cost was P14,000, taking into account (travel time, leg room, in-flight entertainment, arrival time, etc.) I flew with a full-service airline. And I haven’t regretted it for a moment.

If you’re trying to connect, it’s often a wise decision to fly the same airline for two legs of the trip. If this is not a viable option, choose at least two airlines that have a codeshare agreement with each other. This makes travel seamless even if your flights are operated by two different companies, and they can take responsibility if you miss your next flight due to a delay or cancellation.

When Is The Cheapest Time To Buy Airplane Tickets

Last year we booked one of our European flights with Adria Airways, a Slovenian airline. I just saw it on Skyscanner, found their rates competitive and their schedule convenient and booked.

But I had no idea about this airline. If I had done a quick Google search, I would have discovered that they are in deep financial trouble. In short, my flight and all other Adria flights were cancelled. Adria filed for bankruptcy, so I could no longer get my money back. My insurance doesn’t cover it either. I just accepted it and charged for the experience.

You don’t just have to check the airline’s finances. Before booking, please check and read their policies regarding delays, cancellations, rebookings, refunds, no-show fees and other details. Also check out their history of security breaches!

If you booked flights with a credit card owned by someone not traveling with you, check the airline’s policies before departure. Do you need the right ticket? Is a photocopy sufficient? Do you need a copy of this cardholder’s ID?
