2010 Mazda 3 Dashboard Melting – So can you tell me the best way to get it repaired without taking it to the dealer?

I have a simple question: what caused my dashboard to melt? I have a 2010 and the smooth dash area on the RH side is very sticky. The surface literally sticks to your fingers. thank you

I purchased a 2011 Mazda 3 in Australia and the dash was warped, revealing a 1cm gap in the display console area. The dealer told me it was too late to wait for a replacement and quoted me over $1,000 for replacement. Rather than doing that, I wonder if there’s a better way to bridge that gap without it looking so terrible. It may also have black plastic or black tape. Maybe even 3D.

Sorry. It’s been a while and it seems like he hasn’t responded to what I was doing. Somehow I solved the 1.5 million cosmetics gap with a few purchases on eBay. I bought windshield sealing tape and used it as a gap wedge. This will provide a surface to attach to the dashboard weatherstrip strips cut to size with scissors. I used adhesive between the windshield sealing strip and the car sealing strip. That’s because it’s very weak. It was the same gray as the dashboard, so it looked like it was just a normal part of the dashboard, and it was. I am very satisfied with the results. I purchased a 2011 GT hatchback last week with 137xxx miles on it. Today, during my break, I noticed this gap in the dashboard above the screen.

I can’t imagine this being overlooked when I bought the car. But either way, it’s something I have to deal with now.

First of all, congratulations on purchasing your new Mazda 3! This is a common problem with these cars. Mazda has extended warranties on their dashes in the past, but mine expired a few years ago. Maybe the previous owner didn’t take it in to replace the dashboard. There’s a video on YouTube of a guy hooking up (I’m not sure how well it works since I don’t have this problem specifically). Another option is to replace your dash with a new or used one. Hope this helps!

I followed this exact video and it works. It takes about an hour or two to organize with a few books, line up clips, and use some super glue.

It was the same for me too. Seriously, if I post a picture of myself you won’t be able to tell the difference.

Cleaning A Melted/ Sticky Dash Board?

I had a large lead weight (about the size of my palm and an inch and a half) wrapped in duct tape that wasn’t running, and I ended up fixing it and getting ready to try and get it closer. But I’ve never thought about it and now I’m not sure where the weight is, other than to keep it from flying through the air.
