2006 Ezgo Txt Gas Golf Cart

2006 Ezgo Txt Gas Golf Cart – So here’s the info on every upgrade I’ve made to my TXT to date. This includes a 6 inch axle lift, big springs, new fenders, nerf bars, front fender, fenders, diamond plate steering wheel covers, shocks, stereo, mirrors… a little bit of everything really.

One of the problems I had with the heavy springs was that the center pin did not line up correctly with the spring hole. I think the new angle of the lift kit blows it away. I just drilled a new hole 3/8″ higher than the original and all is well.

It was really my first time doing anything… so don’t judge me too much. I tried sanding and polishing the ones that might be visible, but I outgrew the ones that were hidden under the body.

The welder I used was a 110 volt flux from Harbor Freight – I could tell it had no problems with the steel I was using. The pipe bender I used in my 90’s was also from Harbor Freight and it took a lot of trail and error to not pinch the bend. Once I figured out the trick though it was a breeze to make the turns I needed. This is a 1 1/2 inch diameter round barrel stock.

The waves in black are where the Rostoleum process started to bubble. I guess I added too many layers too quickly. It still adds the coverage I want and mostly evens out when I use it.

It was another invention. I had a lot of metal left in the nerf bars so I thought why not give it a try. I’m very happy with how it turned out and it’s a real bumper. I am hoping to add a small winch to get logs and firewood out of our river camp. He is connected to the mountains opposite Ali Aviv so I don’t think he will go anywhere.

The front fender has quite a bit of open space between the frame and the actual tubes so I wanted to add some pizzazz to that area. I think it turned out okay for my first time messing with a diamond plate. I made a cardboard model that I could hold in place and then paint on the metal – it worked well!

The cart is called the Mini Dumpster. My boat is a container because the green color matches any container here in the city. So why not keep up with my green cart! For $20 they cut me 2 names and some logos that I mocked.

These were definitely needed after our first mud run. Those messed up tires have you covered. Haha I used 1/4-20 screws instead of the black plastic screws included. I think it looks very nice.

Tires – These are some 23 inch models from a local cart shop. They were asking $350 for a set, but we ended up trading the gun. 🙂

Engine kit – I replaced the carbs and all the filters. New plug. Basic engine maintenance. There was no information on the maintenance schedule when I bought it, so I just assumed the worst.

The stereo is from Amazon – PolarLander Universal 1 Din 12V Car Radio in Dash – I chose this so I wouldn’t have to mess with wiring and speakers. The 2 built in speakers are really loud for what you have. We hear it well when we drive on the road.

GOLF KING SHIELD – ALL AMERICAN – EZGO PLIABLE 3/16″ ACRYLIC WINDSHIELD – This is a nice windshield and installation was easy. I would recommend. One problem was that someone rolled it at one point, the vertical front roof bracket was missing. Spacers so the windshield was super Tight I used some nuts as new spacers and everything slid.

The hitch was from Amazon – 10L0L Golf Cart Trailer Hitch for EZGO TXT – it attaches to my existing rear folding seat. I’m very happy with it and it can be swapped out with my existing truck hitch so I don’t have to buy anything special. I towed a 2″ single axle trailer with no problems with it.

The mirrors from Amazon – 10L0L latest folding side mirrors and golf cart mirrors – I did not add the side mirrors because the large panoramic mirror was enough.

Lights – The buggy came with a street legal kit – turn signals and brake lights – so I updated the old bulbs with LEDs from Amazon – LUYED 2 X 900 Lumena Super Bright 3014 78-EX chips 881 LEDs – they are very bright so for now I’m happy. I have a small LED light that I might add to the bumper later. I also added a dome light to the lower part of the roof. The one I found has a built in timer so it turns off automatically after 5 minutes. There is also an LED bottom kit so the fender vents will light up no matter what color I choose.

The bending of the diamond plates is mostly done by hand. For the 2 main long bends, I laid the main sheet flat on my weld metal table. Then after putting some cardboard on it, I used a 3 pound hammer and started bending it on that hard edge. The rest is done with pliers to go bit by bit.

It’s an old trailer axle and frame. I replaced the wheels and added a pin to make the bearings last longer. Our ramp is about 3 miles from the campground so it would be 6 miles round trip. We took it to a little obstacle course in the woods to make sure it would hold up before we were done.

The axle is 5/8″ and the wheels are 10″. The whole tube is 1″ square and 1/8″ thick…I was worried that a span like that wouldn’t hold the weight, but it still hasn’t sagged. Most of the weight is on the axis – even with 2 kayaks it is easy to lift the table and move it by hand. E-Z-GO cars have been around for a while and have expanded their market presence in recent years with some innovative models. The longest model is simply the EZGO TXT (which also comes as the E-Z-GO Freedom TXT golf cart, which is what we’re reviewing here). It has been around since the 1990s and has seen several facelifts and body style changes in recent years. First and foremost, the E-Z-GO Freedom TXT Golf Cart is an affordable new vehicle with a starting price of $7,100. If you are looking for a simple golf car, then you have found the right car for you.

We would like to point out that the vehicle is built and intended for golf and is not marked as a street legal car. Therefore, keep in mind that safety is the primary concern with the E-Z-GO Freedom TXT golf cart. Now one of the most important things is that the car has a steel frame which will make it more scary on the street compared to an aluminum frame. The disadvantage of a steel frame would be related to its ability to rust. It is powder coated steel that will resist rust.
