Amc Theaters Will Start Charging Based On Where You Sit
As part of its Sightline initiative, AMC Theaters will begin pricing tickets based on where guests want to sit in the audience, the company announced Monday.
Front row seats are considered value sightline seats and cost less, while middle row seats are called preferred sightline seats and are more expensive. The rest of the theater is standard seating and standard ticket prices.
The move comes as theaters struggle to compete with streaming services and overcome pandemic-era opposition to large indoor venues — not to mention the fact that Hollywood is producing fewer films for theatrical release. AMC has lost about $700 million in the first three quarters of 2022, $1.27 billion in 2021 and $4.6 billion in 2020.
