New Hyundai Models Coming Soon

New Hyundai Models Coming Soon – It’s only April, but 2023 has been a busy year for Hyundai Malaysia. Since we announced the Palisade earlier this year and the Creta today, maybe it’s time for the company to take a breather, right? This is because Hyundai Malaysia has just teased us with three new models for this year.

At the Hyundai Creta launch today, Hyundai Sime Darby Malaysia CEO Low Yuan Lung said: “Hyundai Malaysia is introducing three more exciting models from different segments and segments.”

Looking at Hyundai Malaysia’s new Facebook cover photo, we can see a picture of a sedan and two SUVs next to the Palisade and Creta, emblazoned with the tagline “2023, here we come”. Based on the silhouette, these three cars could be the Ioniq 6, Santa Fe and Tucson.

Hyundai Palisade Reveal

This is not the first time the company has teased the Ioniq 6 here in Malaysia, like late last year. This EV is actually the big brother of the Ioniq 5. However, the two couldn’t be more different.

Instead of the boxy shape of the Ioniq 5, Hyundai adopted the Ioniq 6’s rear exterior, which explains its drag coefficient of just 0.21. This makes the Ioniq 6 one of the most powerful cars ever produced, giving the car a range of 610km from 77.4kWh.

On the other hand, the Santa Fe expected to arrive in Malaysia will be the face of the fourth generation model. The SUV is expected to be powered by electric power, similar to the one that debuted in Malaysia in 2019, but was also pulled from the shelves of Hyundai Malaysia.

The electric engines are said to be a 2.4 liter MPI petrol engine as well as a 2.2 CRDi turbodiesel. But, we have to see if this is true or if Hyundai Malaysia will surprise us?

Regarding the Tucson, we expect the new fourth-generation model to be the one launched by Hyundai Malaysia. The SUV is built with Hyundai’s new design language that looks like a futuristic space vehicle.

The fourth-generation Tucson also features Hyundai’s latest Parametric Jewel fascia, a design pioneered by the Tucson, which is also featured on the Creta. Regarding the powertrain, the SUV is expected to use Hyundai’s 1.6 liter Smartstream turbocharged engine and 2.0 liter naturally aspirated engine.

Whether Hyundai’s 2.0 liter CRDi diesel engine makes a comeback in Malaysia, we will have to wait and see. Again, these are just estimates, actual vehicle specifications may vary upon launch. Big changes are underway at Hyundai. The South Korean automaker is updating its lineup as it continues to develop the Ioniq EV, which was introduced with the Ioniq hybrid and all-electric hatchback for the 2017 model year, three product lines ahead of Hyundai’s electric vehicle expansion. but not all vehicles are at risk. While other cars are getting the ax, popular models like the Elantra and Sonata are getting new features for the 2023 model year.

Hyundai has continued to invest in cars for the past two decades, but the product focus will change slightly in 2023. The Accent small sedan, Veloster N hot hatch and Ioniq hybrid and EV hatchbacks will no longer be available. This means that the Venue subcompact crossover now serves as Hyundai’s standard entry-level model, and the Elantra is now the most affordable non-compact SUV. While we were saddened by the withdrawal of the reigning Veloster N, the Kona N did an excellent job of closing it.

With the Accent subcompact gone, the Hyundai Elantra is now the entry-level model in the lineup. The compact sedan will get a few changes to keep it fresh after the 2021 facelift. SEL models with the Comfort package now have a 10.3-inch alloy touchscreen and built-in navigation. The N Line trim loses its available transmission, but gains a 10.3-inch infotainment display with built-in navigation. Additionally, Elantra models with the base 2.0-liter engine are no longer available with the SEL Premium package.

The Hyundai Sonata midsize sedan will carry over to 2023 with minor changes to the gas and hybrid models. The all-wheel-drive Sonata SEL trim gets a new 10.3-inch infotainment display with navigation and voice control capabilities. Highway assist is no longer available on the SEL Plus trim; It is now only offered on the Sonata Limited. Hybrid models now have a sunroof instead of the sunroof that was installed last year.

While the production of some Hyundai cars will be stopped in 2023, the new model will be available in 2024. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the next installment in the EV lineup. It is likely to be a sedan with electric motors and a battery pack like the Ioniq 5. Power should be 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, and the main battery should be a 58 kWh unit. We expect a larger 77.4 kWh battery as well. The twin-motor version, which should be equipped with a larger battery, is expected to produce a total of 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque.

The Ioniq 6 will have a cabin that relies heavily on displays and touch controls. The interior looks spacious and futuristic, featuring a 12.0-inch touchscreen that dominates the dashboard. Another 12.0-inch display serves as a fully digital instrument cluster. Hyundai says the Ioniq 6 will use environmentally friendly materials in its cabin, such as recycled plastics, fishing net carpets and linseed oil-dyed leather. Different ambient lighting will add to the look and feel of the cabinet. We expect the Ioniq 6 to undercut the price of the Tesla Model 3 below $48,000. The updated SONATA has an interesting and important new look inside and out, providing a sportier look than before.
