We don’t know how much power will be sent to the front wheels, but it will probably be slightly less than Mazda’s 190kW. The MPS engine has incredibly linear characteristics that make it seem like it’s ready for use at any time. That’s not possible. Because despite a limited-slip differential and an engine management system that limits torque in lower gears, the MPS can still be a wild ride of turbo-turbo and torque steer. The chassis is well-bonded, which is great on soft pavement, but I’m concerned about interaction over rough surfaces.

If that doesn’t make much sense, the MPS is like the hot hatches of old. It’s fun, random at times, and a little annoying when you’re not in the mood. Available in white, white, black, and red. But it’s not green.

The Mazda 3 MPS is a throwback to the days when hot hatches were fast, ferocious and a little wild.
