This old, cheap connector had to be removed. You don’t have to put up with that either. Follow these steps to replace your car’s battery clamp.
Start by disconnecting the battery cables. Start with the negative cable first. It can be easier to remove the car battery while you’re working on replacing the clamp.
If you have a lot of battery cables to work with, use a diagonal cutter or pliers to cut the old clips. If not (like in my case), use a grinder or dremel to cut out the old clamp.
There is probably some corrosion in the battery cables (usually the result of over or under charging the battery).

Use a wire brush to remove rust. Also use a wire brush or battery terminal cleaning brush on the battery terminals to clean off any corrosion. Use a cloth to clean the wire.
