Honestly, there are so many great things about this city that it’s hard to narrow it down to just one thing! But I will say that this place has a magical feel to me. The musical history of the city alone is rich (Hammerstein, Sondheim, among others…) and there have been great artists who have inspired the creation of the city. I always find that when I travel I feel a constant attraction to this place.

I spent a lot of time in LA where I lived for 6 years, but when I got home I was always surprised how normal everyone treated me. They knew me before and treated me the same way (relatively) later.

What advice would you give to people in small towns who want to follow in your footsteps?

Now more than ever, it’s easier to find great teachers and opportunities to learn and improve your craft. They are literally at your fingertips. My biggest piece of advice to anyone trying to break into the entertainment business is to always remember where you came from and know what you want and how you fit into the business. In other words, if someone gave you a record deal (if that’s what you’re after), what kind of music would you make? What clothes do you wear? What type of people (age, ethnicity, etc.) would you like to attract with your music? Basically, what is your BRAND? If you can answer these questions, you’re more than halfway there!

High Rocks in Pipersville is definitely one of my favorite places to visit with my family. We are very lucky to have beautiful unspoiled areas nearby, as well as the city of Hokkaido only an hour away!
