What Is Really In Taco Bell Meat – This cheapest recipe from Taco Bell looks like the real deal. The texture and taste are just right and it’s so easy to make!

Have you ever wondered what makes Taco Bell’s delicious meat taste so good? It’s not just the spices and flavors, but the texture. Granted, not everyone likes Taco Bell beef (I’m sure we’ll get some comments from T-Bell haters below), and I’ll tell you to each their own. I, for one, really like the taste and quality of Taco Bell meat. It almost has an “umami” flavor and isn’t dry and crunchy like other ground beef taco meats. You can put it in the shell and it stays there with the other ingredients. This is better.

I finally decided that I had to learn the secret to making this spicy beef. Mainly because I have a daughter who REFUSES to eat tacos unless they are of the same quality as Taco Bell meat, but also because they are delicious and homemade tacos are better. I love that this delicious beef recipe has the same flavor and texture as Taco Bell meat, but without all the added ingredients and preservatives. My ULTRA picky daughter accepts and will eat homemade tacos. Try it and see for yourself!

Remember, these are the ingredients for this particular recipe. Although Taco Bell uses ingredients such as maltodextrin, guanylate, dextrose and sodium phosphates as preservatives and flavor enhancers, we do not use any of these. Our goal was to get the flavor and texture without adding all the extra, unnecessary stuff. Here’s what you’ll need to make Taco Bell Meat at home:

Mixing the water (or stock) with the ground beef mixture is the secret to getting the right texture. This makes it easier to cut the meat with a spatula. Boil until done and then start chopping and mixing until you get that crumbly texture that Taco Bell’s spicy meat is famous for. If you’re still not happy with the texture, you can use a potato masher or the back of a spoon to further break up any remaining clumps as you go.

Once you get the meat down, the rest is easy! Take your favorite hard shell (or soft tortilla shell), add some meat, then top with shredded iceberg lettuce and cheese. You can also “top” tacos by adding sour cream and tomatoes ($1.00+ without). If you’re using a hard crust, make sure to grill or air fry them for a few minutes to get the perfect crispy crust.

You can also easily cook Taco Bell meat in the Instant Pot. Put 2/3 cup water in the Instant Pot and then add the meat mixture. Close the Instant Pot and cook on high for 7 minutes, then let it cool for 10 minutes. Release quickly and use a metal spatula to cut the meat. Turn the Instant Pot setting to “sauté” and cook until the meat mixture thickens.
