Most switches have a removable key that is hidden in plain sight. Look for different colored parts of the key chain. Pull the release button to release the key. For example, in the picture below, the silver part of the key has been removed from the factory.

Note: When replacing the battery for the first time, it is difficult to open the main fob. Gently insert a screwdriver and twist it around the key ring until it separates. Suddenly, it broke into two parts, front and back, and it was time to replace the batteries!

You should have a clean, spacious and well-lit work surface as the main spring component can be exposed. At this point, you need to make sure you land where you can see them and get them quickly. If you remember where they are on the key ring, you can reinsert them, but in the worst case, you may need to take the key to a repair center to reassemble the key.
Once you’ve got your new battery and tools, it’s time to remove your Honda key ring. Before doing this, make sure you have a spare key for your car. The likelihood of anything going wrong here is low, but if it does, you need to make sure you still have a way to open and start your car.

If you have additional keys that you want to sync to your car, follow the same steps again. Just a reminder that some of us had HRV two years ago. Honda recommends replacing the battery every two years. This is a 3V CR2032 battery for smart access keys. After replacing my old battery it read about 2.6 volts.
