I’ve now enjoyed a week with the 2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo and it’s been a blast so far. However, there are some features of the Mazda CX-30 that could be improved. This is the amount from the first initial withdrawal only. A more detailed report will follow.

I’m currently testing the Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus, which starts at around $34,050. The Premium Plus package includes benefits such as heated mirrors, a leather steering wheel, automatic headlights and steering wheel controls.
There are many things that can be said about the CX-30, but today I will talk about three things that could be improved. But these potential drawbacks aren’t necessarily deal breakers.

When I get a call while driving, I raise the infotainment screen to answer it. Still laughing to myself, I pressed the button on the steering wheel to pick up the phone.
The system works with a rotary dial to make the selection. Instead, there are buttons for navigation, music and the main menu. You can also use your phone as a handheld radio tuner to find your favorite stations.

Apple CarPlay is easier to use with a touchscreen, but you can still open menus using the dial. It just takes a little practice and attention. Some may prefer the old-school vibe because it doesn’t have a large touchscreen.
The subcompact 2021 Mazda CX-30 certainly isn’t as roomy as more substantial options. But I want the repository layout to be a bit different. There is no good place to put my phone on the center console. It can sit in front of the cup holder, but it doesn’t fit.
The center console is a little deep, but the glove box is shallow. However, there is a deep pocket in the door with extra cup holders. In addition, there is a small container to the left of the steering wheel that can hold a key fob.
It’s hard to find anything negative about the way the 2021 Mazda CX-30 drives. It’s fast, smooth and responsive. But I really wished the brakes had a little more power to stop quicker.

But the brakes do the job and provide excellent stopping power. The brakes are also very smooth and there are no jerks. You just have to get used to it. It won’t last long in daily driving.
So far, I’ve used the CX-30 for daily errands and for fun on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Parallel parking, approaching on a winding mountain road, etc. It is very mobile, sporty and comfortable. I’ll let you know what I like about it soon.
