This 20th anniversary model costs $1,795 more than the turbo version of the G35 Atenza on which it’s based, or $1,000 if you don’t include its standard metallic paint, which is $795 for the regular Mazda6 version.

Available as sedan or estate, the 20th Anniversary Edition features 19-inch high-gloss silver alloy wheels, 20th anniversary badging, silver front grille, brown Leganu synthetic suede, leather upholstery and seat head restraints. The 20th anniversary is depicted on the front.

Mazda 6 Imagined With Cx 60 Style, Straight Six Power

Models with the 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine are now said to deliver 173 kW (up from 170 kW), improved throttle response and a new six-speed automatic transmission with quicker gear changes.

Engine torque remains at 420Nm (at 2000rpm), but Mazda claims the engine now produces 8Nm of torque at 4200rpm. All models also come with a redesigned steering wheel.

The two most affordable models – the G25 Sport and G25 Touring – are powered by a 2.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine with 140kW/252Nm and a six-speed automatic gearbox (tuning unchanged). All models are front-wheel drive.

Equipment upgrades include wireless Apple CarPlay (in addition to wired) and wireless smartphone charger for Touring and above (previously unavailable on any model) as well as cruise and traffic support for GT SP and above.Traffic Jam Assist technology.

New features unique to the GT SP models include gloss black finishes around the front grille, part of the tailgate center trim, and body and roof rails.

The Atenza Brown and White Nappa Leather interior options have been dropped, replaced by Black Nappa Leather.

The color palette has changed – Blue Reflex has been removed, Platinum Quartz Metallic has been added as a complimentary color, Rhodium White Metallic replaces Snowflake White Pearl in the range (but costs an extra $795 and isn’t as complimentary as before), and the 20th Anniversary is available exclusively in an Artisan Red Metallic option.

Plans for the next-generation Mazda6 remain unclear due to declining sales of traditional sedans and station wagons worldwide and Mazda’s focus on expanding its current SUV lineup.
