Kidde Safety recommends installing alarms in the following locations. For maximum protection, we recommend installing alarms on all levels of a multi-storey building, including all rooms, balconies, finished areas and basements. The HUSH function has the option of temporarily deactivating the smoke detector for approx. 9 minutes. This should only be used when known alarms, such as cooking smoke, have triggered the alarm.
