How To Install A Car Seat Base – The CR-V was redesigned for 2017… but not if you plan to fill the back seats with kids in car seats. If you plan to fit three across the driver and middle seats, or two (car seat or 1 car seat + 1 adult), this is not the vehicle for you.
The 2012-2016 CR-V had the worst seatbelts between the 2D and 2C, but things got even worse for 2017 as Honda now wrapped the 2D and 2C seatbelt buckles in thicker plastic and continued cutting the 2D seatbelts. & 2C. Another nice change for 2017 is that all headrests are now removable (useful for most forward-facing seats and perfect for tall boosters).
How To Install A Car Seat Base
We spent a lot of time with our 2017 CR-V trying to figure out how to place a car seat in 2C and use 2D. And probably because the car seat in 2C was not available for 2D, it took several attempts with no success. Uses 2D buckle. And/or the 2D is too narrow to accommodate a car seat or mat.

We chose a car seat (and the one we had that day) that was on the narrow side. Because we were looking for success, not failure! We tested the following car seats (in alphabetical order):
I didn’t have a Chicco Fit2 to try out, but I expect it to deliver the same results as the Chicco Key Fit 30. The Fit2 is the best choice as it lasts about a year longer than the Key Fit for most children. . 30. The Chicco Keyfit35 may also work as it shares the same basic design as the Fit2.
So if you’re looking for seats for your 2017 and newer CR-V… I recommend using the Chicco Fit2 and LATCH in the middle to allow an adult to sit in 2D and wear a seatbelt. If you need a car seat for 2D and 2C, we recommend IMMI Go for 2D, Foonf rear-facing for 2C, Diono Radian for 2D, and Chicco Fit2 for 2C.

Century Carry On™ 35 Infant Car Seat Base
The CR-V has five lower anchors. One is shared between 2D and 2C (see picture below). More information about this type of LATCH device can be found here.
The 2C shoulder harness comes from the roof (yes, it’s safe). See here for instructions on using, attaching and detaching this type of seat belt.
Anchors attached to the side seats are indicated by green circles. The red X represents two metal rings that could easily be mistaken for mooring anchors. But not a mooring anchor.
The CR-V was redesigned in 2012. The 2D and 2P headrests are now fixed (only tilts up/down) and cannot be removed.
Cybex Car Seats
In 2012, retention buttons were introduced for all three seats. As in previous years, the buttons were flexible. It wasn’t a good change in 2012. In particular, if most car seats are installed in the middle seat, they will not function when the seat is seated or when the driver’s seat button is closed. For those who want to have a child car seat in the center and an adult behind the driver’s seat, we felt the Nuna Pippa was special because it made the driver’s seat buckle fully accessible. (If FIFA is installed with LATCH + fixed legs) – Please refer to the image below. Surprisingly, the 2017 and new CR-V Pipa does not repeat LATCH on 2C because the 2D buckle sticks to the Pipa and prevents it from connecting to the lower anchor.
The photo below (showing the Chicco Key Fit 30) was taken before the Chicco Fit2 was released. The Fit2 lasts a year longer than the KeyFit and the carrier has a European belt system while the KeyFit has a US belt system, so we recommend the Fit2 instead.
The 2007 CR-V was redesigned with the addition of a 5-inch lower anchor to allow for center LATCH. This CR-V has five lower anchors. One is shared between 2D and 2C (see below). More information about this type of LATCH device can be found here. You’ll find that this car’s center LATCH isn’t as useful as it first appears, due to the lack of focus on the center LATCH and the large plastic curtain sticking out from the center of the seat. . … And in some cases, you may choose to center the car seat with a seat belt.
The seat belts on all three seats are flexible (good). The center seat and passenger seat are very narrow. And two car seats are suitable, and many combinations are not possible next to these two seats.
How To Properly Install An Infant Car Seat

For 2002, lower anchors (LATCH) and 60/40 split rear seat adjustment were introduced, with a 40 percent driver’s seat. 2002 was the first year to introduce shoulder belts and center seat headrests. All cell phone mounts for that model year are located on the roof (to the right of the trunk door opening).
The 2C’s seatbelts stick out too far forward on the seat than they should be in the car, a few inches closer to the passenger side, which unfortunately makes them narrow in the middle. In some cases, the middle seatbelt buckle can be repositioned so that it sticks out of the cushion and goes straight up, rather than sideways like it does at the factory. This may be necessary depending on your car seat. I’m trying to install it on 2C.
In this model range the 2D and 2P have headrests and shoulder belts, but unfortunately the 2C only has a lap belt and no headrest.

For 2001, anchors were introduced for all three rear seats (all anchors in this car are located in the ceiling just to the right of where the trunk door opens). Cable anchors can be retrofitted to 1997-2000 CR-V in 2D and 2P only. It’s not available in 2C (unfortunately). Except for the anchorage, the rear seats are the same as those of the 1997-2001 models.

Fasten the seat belt with one hand on the bottom of the car seat and the other hand holding the seat belt over your shoulder. Pull the seat belt and push the base at the same time. This will secure the car seat base very securely so it won’t move out of place.
Explore the basics of depression. The base should not move when moved more than 1 inch from the seat belt path. Also look at perspective.
The most important step in this process is to ensure that the car seat base is solid and does not move more than an inch when strapped in.
