I love a plate of crispy, golden chicken wings with a side of red beans, rice, greens, and buttered crab bread. Does he get more than that?! I swear it’s the best food ever! In this post, I will show you how to make fried chicken wings in the easiest way. This recipe is very simple – the hardest part is waiting for the salmon, which takes 4 hours.
Air Fryer Chicken Wings {extra Crispy!}
Here are all the ingredients you need for homemade fried chicken wings. Be sure to check the recipe card at the end of this post to get the correct ingredient measurements!
You certainly can! Whether you want to use legs, thighs, drumsticks, or whole wings is up to you. I prefer to use whole chicken wings. You can buy rooms and apartments separately or reserve them yourself.
In this recipe? Corn Starch! Adding mustard to the flour mixture makes the breading on the chicken wings extra crispy. Why? The mihresha absorbs some of the fat from the chicken skin, making it very crispy when fried. Don’t have a bee on hand? Use baking powder!
Salting is an essential part of this recipe. Why? Because searing your chicken wings is what keeps them so tender and delicious. Marinating chicken wings is a great way to add fat and flavor to your chicken, and it definitely won’t dry out no matter how long you cook it!
The Neelys’ Spicy Fried Wings Recipe
Soaking is the first step in this recipe – for best results, do it in advance.
When you prepare chicken wings, you can play with your flavors – you can use sweet, salty, spicy, herbs… it’s all up to you! But I have a tried and true recipe for chicken wings that I stick to:
That’s it! That’s all you need to get delicious, juicy and delicious chicken wings. If you want to add a bit of spice, I recommend keeping it to the basics, like white pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, or some cayenne pepper. To make the meat more tender, you can add white vinegar, but it is not necessary to add milk.
Chicken wings should be refrigerated for at least 4 hours or overnight for extra flavor! The longer the better – the brine will soak into the skin and meat of the chicken wing, tenderizing every inch. Don’t let your chicken wings marinate for more than 48 hours, or you risk having soggy and overly salty wings on your hands.
Fried Chicken Wings With Emeril’s Essence Recipe
By the time you let your wings marinate in salt for at least 4 hours (I tell all my cousins, leave out the milk!), they are almost ready to cook. After removing the chicken wings from the soup, do not wash them. The mixture of flour and spices will adhere to the moist skin, giving you perfect baking without the use of eggs or milk.
When you’re done, you’ll have delicious chicken wings! These babies are perfect for game day, a picnic, or when you’re eating some southern fried chicken at home. Although the recipe requires patience with the cream, it’s worth it, cousin!
If you are a visual learner, watch me make this recipe! At the end of the video, I will show you how tender and crispy chicken wings are thanks to simple salt and sugar!
You want the temperature of the oil to be around 350 degrees when frying. Since we are washing instead of frying, it takes less time to heat the oil to this temperature. Use an instant-read thermometer to check the temperature of the oil (as well as the internal temperature of the chicken to be sure). Tip: You can definitely use a deep fryer if you have one. Just note that it may take longer for the oil to heat up (bonus points if you have a digital fryer!)
Deep Fried Chicken Wings Recipe
You certainly can, but in my opinion, baking doesn’t give you the same kind of crispy wings. I have a crispy “roasted” chicken recipe that promises even more crispy fried chicken if you prefer to skip the oil.
Another secret to perfectly fried chicken wings is to fry the wings in small portions. Since we are using a deep fryer, I recommend frying only 3-4 chicken wings at a time. That way, you’ll get crispy, brown wings that aren’t soggy and unevenly cooked.
To keep your wings nice and warm when baking in batches, you can reheat them in the oven. Turn the oven to the lowest setting – some ovens have a “hot” setting – and place the wings on a baking sheet in the oven until the wings are done.
You can use whatever spices you want! The sky is the limit. In this recipe, I like to keep it simple as we are looking for basic but delicious fried chicken wings. These Chinese inspired wings are super easy with big, bold Asian flavors + the flavor that makes these wings so delicious. Golden in color, beautiful in color and with a taste that melts into the bone. These fried chicken wings are sure to satisfy any comfort food itch you may have.

We love to serve Chinese chicken wings ready with fried rice (vegetable, pork, chicken, shrimp) – just like in a Chinese restaurant! Other options like french fries, potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a side salad would be great too. // ⇢ Do you like Asian inspired food? Like Chinese chicken wings, these chicken wings are not heavily cooked. This is the reason why beeswax is used instead of flour. If you prefer a lot of breading on your chicken wings, I recommend using a 50/50 ratio of cornstarch and all-purpose flour (about 2 tablespoons each). Remember that flour helps in baking, but chicken is not as golden/crispy as flour. They are similar, but at the same time…
