Summary: A cousin of the RX compact, the 2022 Lexus NX offers a smooth ride, a comfortable interior, and a variety of powertrains, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The base 2.5-liter cylinder is too light for our taste, but the NX 350’s 2.4-liter turbocharged coupe imbues the NX with much-needed brutality. Slightly more modest than the 350 is the 350h Hybrid with an impressive 37 mpg on the highway, and the top-of-the-line plug-in is the 450h+. However, at over $55,000, it’s a big jump in fuel economy as a regular model. All models except the base 250 have standard automatic transmissions.

The NX’s driving style focuses more on comfort than cornering, with a quiet and comfortable cabin. The NX is arguably more sporty than its big brother, the RX, but focuses on simplicity rather than performance.
Inside, the cabin is well maintained and well equipped. We’re happy to report that the 2022’s design replaces the old infotainment system, which we weren’t a fan of, with a much better screen. There is good visibility and enough storage for everyday items, although with the seats up or down, luggage space is competitive. We’re not big fans of the gearshift in the NX, so it’s worth a test drive to get comfortable with it.
Standard features include artificial leather seats and a host of safety features such as genuine leather, a large touchscreen and a panoramic sunroof.
New for 2022: The redesigned 2022 brings things like more safety features, a new plug-in engine and most importantly for us, touchscreen infotainment compared to the remote control.

Features and Technology: If there’s one thing the 2022 Lexus NX has to offer, it’s power. The base model NX 250 has a 2.5-liter engine that is connected to the front or all four wheels through an automatic transmission. Up top, the NX 350 is all-wheel drive and uses a 2.4-liter turbo mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The NX 350h Hybrid uses an automatic transmission (CVT) to send power to all four wheels, just like the NX 450h Plug-in Hybrid.
Not surprisingly, the base 2022 NX 250 is well-equipped for this price, including leather upholstery, climate control, 10-way heated seats and a 9.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa. . The Lexus Safety+ 3.0 system includes automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keeping, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and high beam.
Upstairs, you can find front headlights, sunroof, leather seats, heated and ventilated seats, head-up display, Mark Levinson sound system, 14-inch infotainment system and more. Insert something. All of these features come standard on the top-spec 450h+ plug-in hybrid model.

Summary: Exceptionally reliable and well-built, the 2022 Acura RDX is a sleek, compact, and fun crossover that has a lot to offer. A choice of one engine sends 272 hp to the front wheels or to four for an additional $2,000. Handling is fun and exciting, only enhanced by the adaptability of the modern package.
Inside, the RDX is light and comfortable with plenty of space, including 38 inches of rear legroom. Cargo space is also good, with 30 cubic feet behind the rear seats expanding to 58.8 with all seats folded down. Standard features are clear with a number of driver assistance functions such as blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning and emergency braking. The high-end model includes the next version of PMC, which will not only be limited to 200 units, but will be more expensive, starting at $50,000.
New for 2022: Minor changes include mild chrome trim on the front grille and air intakes, and a different rear fascia with rectangular air intakes. Also new are improved audio, safety equipment and exterior options. The upgrade to the smaller package includes more technological features and advanced features with the option to add A-Type treatment to the Advance package.

Power goes to the front wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, although all-wheel drive is available on all variants. Standard features include LED headlights, keyless entry and ignition, power tilt-and-slide panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, faux leather controls, and 12-way heated seats. Infotainment comes via a 10.2-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto integration, Amazon Alexa integration, USB-A and USB-C ports and Wi-Fi. Driver assistance features include forward collision warning and emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert and cruise control.

Instead of offering a la carte options, Acura bundles them into packages. The Technology package adds front and rear parking sensors, sport seats, leather seats, navigation, an ELS 12 sound system, and wireless charging.
The A-Spec is a sport-like package with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, leather/leather seats, heated and ventilated seats, and an ELS 16-channel stereo.
The Advance package adds all-wheel drive, climate control, a 360-degree camera system, 16-way front seats, and heated rear seats, among others. The next PMC model appears among the rest, sold in one color and limited to only 200.

An obvious entry into the compact crossover segment, the 2022 Lexus NX is a huge improvement over its predecessor. It has a powerful engine, build quality and looks that customers won’t soon forget. It doesn’t offer the driving pleasure of the RDX, but the 2022 Lexus NX is comfortable, quiet, and will get you where you need to go in style.
Well-built, stylish, and with plenty of standard equipment, the 2022 Acura RDX is one of our favorites in this segment. There’s only one engine, but we have nothing but praise for its excellent specs, with good passenger and cargo space and a comfortable ride.

The 2019 Lexus NX 300 AWD and 2019 Acura RDX SH-AWD are two of America’s best two-line premium crossovers. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but there are key differences for the 2019 model year that buyers should be aware of. The Lexus NX is a carryover from 2018 and hasn’t changed much since its launch a few years ago. The Acura RDX is a completely different car than last year. Here’s a breakdown of the key differences.
While both are two-line crossovers, the Acura RDX is now a larger car than the Lexus NX 300. The Acura RDX is now five inches longer, one inch wider and the Lexus NX taller. Inside, I found the NX to be very comfortable, except for the driver’s knee area. Our right knee was always in contact with the hard plastic of that big central canker. RDX, on the other hand, is bigger and bigger in this segment. Where the size factor makes the most sense is in the load. With the rear seats up, the RDX is twice the size of the Lexus NX.
Lexus NX is cheaper than Acura RDX. The NX 300 with AWD starts at just under $39,000. The Acura RDX starts at just over $40,000. The test Lexus NX (2018 model) had a price tag of $45,560. A similarly equipped Acura RDX will cost $49,000. Both don’t have the same equipment, but our impression is that looking at the standard equipment the Lexus is about 10% cheaper at the top end.
